Prepared To Preserve (Psalm 61:7)

Psalm 61:7  He shall abide before God for ever: O prepare mercy and truth, which may preserve him.

God wants us to abide before him.  When we do, we are settled in him.  There is no moving or vacillating in our walk or hearts.  Because God wants us abiding in him, he provides to us what is necessary for us to accomplish this by measuring out what is needed for our lives.

He grants us mercy for abiding.  God does not position himself against us as we so much deserve because of our fallen condition, but instead reaches out to us in kindness and favor.  As Esther approached the king and hoped for him to reach out his scepter in acceptance, we face the same situation.  However the difference is that God has already placed his scepter of acceptance out to us and it always remains there.  It is for this reason that he tells us to come boldly to the throne of grace.  God also provides truth.  Truth is something that brings stability to our lives and is worthy of our trust.  All truth brings stability, but God intends to provide to us the exact truth needed to keep us stable for the storms in life that we will face today.

As you approach his word each day, believe that God is accepting you as you come to him and that he will provide something needed for today.  You may not even recognize what it is, but what you need will be given.
